To donors and interested parties,

We have had a lot of inquiries about progress on the "Save the Thorofare" rescue project and we are happy to report positive progress. The managing entity, Idaho Department of Water Resources has received 5 bids from construction contractors interested in being awarded the the contract to do the job, which consists of the demolishing and disposing of the failing breakwater, and construction of a new permanent breakwater and realigning/dredging the a new channel.

The five bids, at this moment, are being studied by the IDWR project team and we are awaiting the announcement of their decision on the winner. As you can imagine, the details that need to be analyzed are mind-boggling . It appears that everything is on time and the plan remains to begin construction mobilization this coming Fall when the lake level drops. As mentioned in an earlier update, this will be your last chance to take pictures of the old disappearing breakwater that has served us well for over 70 years, with a lot of patching along the way.

This is a short report, we will update soon.
